SWICOFIL - Yarn and fiber expert.

BONDING / SEPARATING

Melting yarns with the ability to either bond or separate materials with each other without the necessity of sewing.
Separating, bonding and combi-yarns for embroidery, knitting, weaving, ready-to-wear apparel and for many new-to-be-developed applications.

Swicofil is your partner to help you improving your textile and industrial textile product performance, to find new solutions for existing products, to explore new product design possibilities.

Swicofil is co-operating with a partner who has been manufacturing and marketing melting (bonding / separating) yarn and fibers since 1952 and hotmelt adhesives since 1965. These polymers are intermediate products, which have been continuously developed as outstanding specialities and are used for innovative and technically demanding applications.

It is difficult to imagine the modern textile industry and its periphery without these speciality yarns. They serve to simplify process steps i.e. for rationalization, but are also important for improving the quality of articles not otherwise economically feasible.
The variety of application possibilities for our products in knitting, chenille and band production or for labels, embroidery, raschel lace and the ready-to-wear apparel industry, can be classified in three important product assortments:

GRILON® FUSIBLE BONDING YARN - FOR PERMANENT ADHESION

Fusible bonding yarns have a multitude of potential uses in the textile industry, including bonding of trouser waistbands, chenille yarns, iron-on woven labels, sheating for bra underwiring, curtain tapes etc. Using fusible bonding yarns help to improve and rationalize production processes.

Grilon® fusible bonding yarns for technical textiles, innovative solutions for garments, better product properties and process optimization:

  • KE-types
    polymer: Copolyester (CoPET)
    melting range: 60°C, 135°C, 160°C
    yarn count: dtex 23 - dtex 330
    properties: washable, stainable

  • K-types
    polymer: Copolyamid (CoPA)
    melting range : 85°C, 110°C, 140°C, 178°C
    yarn count: dtex 23 - dtex 840
    properties: washable, stainable, dry cleaning

In case your application cannot work with Polyester or Polyamide, it is also possible to apply HDPE multifilament for bonding purposes.

GRILON® SEPARATION YARN - FOR NEW INNOVATIVE PRODUCT SOLUTIONS

Separation yarns have proven successful in the production of knitted panels for making-up into men's, ladies and children wear as well as in the sock and stocking industry.

Solving product ideas with Grilon® separating yarn:
separation temperature:
85°C, 115°C, 145°C, 165°C, 195°C
yarn count:
dtex 75 - dtex 390

GRILON® COMBI YARNS - FUSIBLE BONDING YARN WITH NORMAL MELTING PET OR PA

Combi yarns are fusible bonding yarns with normal melting PET or PA yarns twisted around. Our multifilament combi fusible bonding yarn consists of a fusible yarn twisted with a supporting yarn of normal melting point made from polyester or polyamide filaments. The fusible component in the combi yarn, used as the under-thread in the seam, is caused to melt and fuse by application of heat, whilst the supporting thread remains held in the seam with the top yarn.

Such yarns are used for iron-on attachment of embroidery, edge reinforcement of rachel lace or fusing of seams (like collar bands, chest pieces in men's and ladies outerwear).

Solving product ideas with Grilon® combi yarn:
polymer: PET or PA66 enwinded with CoPET or CoPA
melting range : 80°C - 142°C
yarn count: dtex 45 - dtex 1100
properties: high tensile strength, good processing at sewing and stitching
