Established by four philanthropist entrepreneurs in 2010, Nepal Natural Fiber is a social enterprise that networks almost all entrepreneurs involved in natural fiber business throughout Nepal. The company has added the motto to create green jobs at the local level for fostering livelihood of locals; for the purpose, company outsource its production process at the different level in a value chain, from the collection of natural fiber plants to product marketing.
Natural Fiber Nepal focuses on natural fibers as they are the major source of livelihoods and food security for millions of small-scale farmers and processors in the world. This has high economic importance in terms of contribution to GDP for many of developing countries.
Furthermore, Nepal has a comparative advantage on fiber containing non-timber forest species. Due to the variation in climate, topography, and vegetation, there is diversity and abundance of fiber containing plants that could be utilized to promote micro and small businesses.
