With stuffer box crimping or stuffer box texturization, yarn is not textured with a twist like with friction texturization. With stuffer box crimping, yarn coming from the supply package is pressed in zig zag form into a heated box (the stuffer box) which is on a specially constructed machine. On the upper end of the stuffer box is a moveable load, which is responsible for pressuring the yarn into shape (depending on the required crimp of the yarn, the load can be adjusted).

Stuffer box crimped yarns (so yarns textured by the stuffer box method) have a good fluffiness, are however rather low in regard of elasticity.
