smartcelTM ceramic combines smartcelTM design with ceramic materials. Even complex textile ceramics can be manufactured cost-efficiently and flexibly. A ceramic powder (oxidic or non-oxidic) is combined with cellulose, formed and sintered thereafter. The result is a product which is fully ceramic in fiber, fabric and fleece. smartcelTM ceramic has a wide variety of possible applications. The sintered PZT ceramic fiber stretches when exposed to alternating voltage, thereby producing sound waves. Consequently, this fiber is used in ultrasound technology. Composite fiber components based on smartcelTM ceramic are used in medical end uses. Also various sports accessories, such as tennis rackets or winter sports equipment are reinforced by smartcelTM ceramic fibers which in these applications have a vibration-damping effect. production process To manufacture smartcelTM functional fiber, amine oxides and water are used to separate the cellulose directly and without chemical modification, and the textile fibers are then produced in a spinning process. The ability to mix organic and inorganic additives homogeneously into the fibers makes it possible to produce various functional materials on this common cellulose base. Depending on the additive, smartcelTM functional fiber then takes on the properties of e.g. bacteria reduction, odour reduction, temperature regulation, electric conductivity, extreme absorbency or magnetism. By adding the various functional polymers, a full range of smartfiber product segments are obtained – smartcelTM bioactive, smartcelTM energy, smartcelTM clima, smartcelTM ceramic and smartcelTM filaments which can also be combined with one another.
